Montserrat sits on a mountain of eroded conglomerate an hour from Barcelona, and the monastery has been there for a thousand years. The morning covers the basilica, the Black Madonna and — when the school is in session — the Escolania, Europe's oldest boys' choir, which sings at 13:00.
